A Call Home:

Returning to What We Are Made Of

A Myth and Movement Workshop

The SealSkin, SoulSkin Myth

Saturday, November 5th, 9 am – 4 pm

In this one-day workshop we will be participating in embodied engagement with the myth SealSkin, Soulskin – an ancient story in which a SealWoman finds her way home.  Through theft, drying out, and returning to her own skin, she finds the courage and wisdom to sink into her natural rhythms and into the natural movements of her soul.

This workshop involves contemplative and movement work.  We will talk, read, make art, and write.  We will also listen to and move our bodies.  So often we try to engage the psyche or the soul while the body sits neglected and feared – its deep wisdom left untapped.  We forget that the body tells its stories; that we tell our stories through our bodies.  We forget that our bodies are not separate objects.  We are whole beings – psyche and body –  and our deepening requires attention to our whole selves.

Having said that, I want to assure you that you do not have to be any kind of dancer or yoga genius!  The movements are simple and are about what feels right for you.

Through this embodied engagement with the myth, we hope this workshop will help us all connect with our stories, to find out where we are in relation to home – to the place where we are in our own skins – and to always learn to ask how the rhythms of our souls are moving us now.
